In order to return to the profound and contemplative origins of our faith in this Jubilee Year, a new form of Retreat had been inaugurated called ‘Metanoia Retreats’. It is subtitled ‘Back to Prayer Forward with Christ the King’.

 The Patron is Bishop  Athanasius Schneider and it is dedicated to ‘Our Lady of Mount Carmel.’ If your Parish priest is, for whatever reason, unable to run one of these retreats you can do onefor yourselves using all the information available to you.

They are called ‘Catechetical Retreats’ because they are aimed at the head and the heart simultaneously just as, Systematic Theology used to be taught hand in glove with Mystical Theology before the heresy of Quietism banished Mystical Theology from Spiritual Theology,  depriving us all of the sublime contemplative spirituality, that inspired the Apostolic Fathers.

These Metanoia Retreats have been devised to take us back to our spiritual origins and forward to the New Spring promised by St John Henry Newman. The first of them  has primarily been written for the laity, but many more will follow, in podcast form, for priests and religious  from  various different spiritual traditions.

Although many things have changed since Christ our King rose from the dead, he has never ceased to pour out his  Love on all who are readily open to receive it. The spiritual bankruptcy that we have all been experiencing at every level in the Church that he founded, is not because he has ceased to love us, but simply because we have stopped turning to receive that love.

This is the love called the ‘pleroma’ by the Fathers of the Church, because it is the cornucopia of all the infused virtues, and all the gifts of the Holy Spirit given to all who persist in  prayer to contemplation. Those who refuse to pursue it are committing what the scriptures call the sin against the Holy Spirit, that has been spiritually devastating our Church for decades.
